Brighton is where it all began for BIMM – and it’s where your success story starts too. With three incredible facilities across the city, the College has everything you need to make your mark on the music industry.
Across BIMM East, BIMM West and BIMM House, the Brighton campus boasts 14 brilliant teaching rooms, a staggering array of top-quality equipment and no fewer than four live performance venues. The sheer scale of the place is an inspiration to anyone dreaming of a music career.
You’ll experience Brighton’s music scene away from the College too. BIMM Brighton offers students free rehearsal space at the city’s Monster Studios, while Brighton Electric is often used for auditions and assessments.
The hub of this place is the common room though, located at BIMM West. It’s where you’ll relax and unwind, but also develop your talent – because even in your downtime, you’ll be hanging out with some of the finest musical minds in the country.
Located in Brighton’s fittingly named Rock Place, BIMM East was the first college building to open in 2001 – and it’s retained a special atmosphere all of its own.
The friendly feel is still the same today as it was when we began, but facilities were upgraded in 2009 to include more top-spec drum kit and a state-of-the-art Mac suite for songwriters.
BIMM West, in Hove’s Brunswick Street West, first opened its doors in October 2005. It’s been right at the heart of BIMM Brighton’s activities ever since.
A vast building covering 8,200ft2, BIMM West alone has nine specialist teaching rooms – and it’s home to the campus’s thriving student common room too.
You’ll find the teaching rooms here equipped with the best professional gear from manufacturers around the world, as well as vintage backline equipment used by the pros. Proving the point, we’ve even got amps and speaker stacks in our bass room, given to us by Stevie Wonder’s bass player, Nate Watts.
BIMM House is a four-storey, Grade II listed building, which used to be Hove Town Hall. It’s just a stone’s throw away from BIMM West on the Brighton/Hove border.
It’s a place that will get the best performance out of you in every sense – with multi-purpose teaching rooms and band tutorial suites fitted around two huge live venues, each holding crowds of 100.
Both live rooms have gigging-standard PA systems, lighting rigs and stages, and are kitted out with top-level new and vintage backline. Perhaps less glamorous, but every bit as important for your musical education, there’s also a resource room – providing state-of-the-art workstations for project work and study.
Pro backline – Industry-standard equipment from the likes of Mesa, Boogie, Cornford, Marshall, Vox, Fender, and more.
Performance rooms – Gig-ready environments in all three of our sites.
Two drum rooms – both equipped with Roland v-drum kits, DW acoustic kits and Zildjian cymbals
Keyboards room – featuring 10 Kurzweil SP2X keyboards.
Songwriting room – with a Yamaha upright piano, Hammond organ, Roland RD300SX keyboard, Marshall, Hi Watt and Ashdown amps, Fender, Takamine and Ozark acoustic guitars, and Meinl percussion.
Bass room – kitted out with an Ampeg SVT class head and 8 x 10 cab, a Hartke L1000 and speaker stack, and a Hiwatt 200 amp and cab.
