Steven Blessing
Guitarist
BIMM London graduate, Steven Blessing, studied BA (Hons) Creative Musicianship in Guitar.
Since graduating, Steven has worked tirelessly as a session musician, garnering as much experience as possible on the way. He finally landed a job with alt-rock titans, Wax on Water, as a session guitarist. He’ll be working on their upcoming album, The Drip, whilst rehearsing for their 21/22 tour that will span much of America and South America.
Steven also performs in his own band, Estrangor. He has also very recently landed a job as guitarist for EDM artist NATHASSIA and Grammy Award-winning producer Bruce Elliott-Smith. Steven will work on their latest single and perform for a string of gigs.
Steven had this to say about his time at BIMM University Berlin London:
“I was playing in rock bands and asked to record for local musicians long before my time at BIMM, but I feel having a degree from a well-respected institute on my CV was invaluable in terms of appearing more professional and being taken seriously as a musician. This led to being considered for better gigs. I didn’t think I’d be able to make a career of it before BIMM.
“I got a lot out of my time at BIMM London, especially the Techniques classes with John Wheatcroft in particular. This was because my main goal was to push myself to be the best guitarist I could possibly be in terms of playing and technique. I learnt so much from that class. I still spend hours and hours every day trying to better my playing. That’s why I don’t like receiving compliments because it’s not helpful to me. It just makes me lazy; there is always more to learn!
“I’m enjoying where I’m at, at the moment. I never thought that people would pay me to do what I love/what I’m good at, so it’s a good start. There’s so much more I want to do when things get back to normal, i.e. doing gigs, playing festivals and getting that instant rush, which you only get from live performance. But at the moment, I’m really happy doing weekly rehearsals, remote recording, songwriting and generally being creative.”
