Sara Neidorf is a professional drummer from Philadelphia. Since relocating to Berlin in 2012, she works as a session drummer, drum instructor, and collaborator in original projects, including Mellowdeath, Aptera, Sarattma, Choral Hearse, and Mad Kate | The Tide.
Always interested in an array of musical styles, Sara has recorded and toured internationally with such acts as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Valerie Renay, Godmother, City at Dark, and Tau and the Drones of Praise.
Sara cultivated her passion for drumming through a youth rock music program and playing in metal bands in the basements of Philadelphia. She’s studied under such drummers as Eric Slick (Dr. Dog, The Adrien Belew Power Trio), Allison Miller (Ani DiFranco, Brandi Carlisle, Boom Tic Boom), Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta), and Sarah Thawer. Sara has performed live with such legends as Ike Willis (Frank Zappa), Adrien Belew (Yes), and John Wetton (King Crimson).
As a musician and educator, Sara champions the visibility and work of women and non-binary people, and longs for a day when music’s gender imbalance is a thing of the past. When not drumming, Sara co-directs and curates Final Girls Berlin Film Festival.
