The chance to perform at Glastonbury is something any band on the planet would jump to be a part of. Which is why BIMM Berlin were incredibly pleased to see two student bands competing for the chance to perform at the festival during the inaugural ‘Pilton Stage Berlin’ showcase.
The event, which was arranged and promoted by Music Business student Anton Rangardt, saw a total of eight hopeful acts performing in front of hordes of fans and a jury of Glastonbury booking agents whose job was to decide which two acts deserved to make it through to the final round.

Competition was stiff and the event pulled a capacity crowd to Cassiopeia in Berlin’s fashionable East side quarter. After strong performances from every band, two winners were selected by the judges. These were BIMM Berlin’s very own hip hop collective Lexodus and indie punk jazz quartet The Usual Boys, whose impressive efforts earned them a place in the next leg of the competition.
A big year for Glastonbury
Glastonbury is known throughout the industry as one of the biggest and best music festivals there is, and 2020 is a special year for the festival, not least because it marks its 50th anniversary. It’s fitting then, that headline artists this Summer include some of the biggest names in music, such as Sir Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, Diana Ross and Lana Del Ray.
Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis paid a visit to BIMM Brighton in 2019 to give an intimate masterclass in which he revealed what it’s like to put on one of the world’s biggest live music events.
We’re thrilled that two BIMM Berlin bands are one step closer to being able to perform at such an incredibly special festival and look forward to seeing how they fare when they compete in the final round of the Pilton Stage showcase, which takes place in Pilton, Somerset on March 28th.
We wish both artists the best of luck in the competition. Watch this space for updates!
