It’s that brilliant time of year where we’re joined by a brand new cohort of students, all starting the courses which will in turn lead them to bright young careers in the music industry. Before all that though, there’s the important matter of our Freshers events to address. Here’s a run-down of whats on for new BIMM Bristol students.
Friday 21st September
4-6PM – Boat Tours of Bristol
Did you know there are over 100 miles of waterways waiting to be discovered in Bristol? Take a boat tour and see the city from a uniquely different angle. You might even discover a few more secret locations along the way. More info to be released during Induction.
6.00-8.30pm Passage St. Sessions @ No.51
BIMM’s very own acoustic music and open mic night. Meet the staff members who’ll guide you through your time at BIMM and check out exclusive performances from BIMM Bristol students. Plus, for those feeling confident enough, you’ll have a chance to perform a track or two of your own. Did we mention your first drink is free?
Friday 28th September
3-4pm Induction event at The Station *compulsory for 1st years*
This event will be your official introduction to life at BIMM, and will feature an exclusive performance and interview with Leeds based ambient electronica collective Submotion Orchestra. Plus, there will be talks from staff members and the student support team on how to get the most out of your time here.
From 4.30pm at the same venue, you can expect free food, local breweries, lots of prizes, graffiti demos, plus a headline performance from Submotion Orchestra, with BIMM Bristol artists Chaouche, Chrissie Huntley, and Anna Lisa supporting.
Sunday 30th September
11-1pm – Freshers Fair at Thekla
This is your chance to familiarise yourself with one of the best live music venues in Bristol; on a boat! Check out some seriously great local businesses during some exclusive BIMM-students-only time. Come and get involved with lots of freebies and student competitions whilst mingling with your new classmates.
