Given the current uncertainty created by the Coronavirus, as Head of Institution, I thought it would be helpful to send a message to our new students and applicants for the next academic year.
The UK government has indicated that UK schools are to be resumed gradually from 1st June onwards – initially with priority for early years primary school and year 6. Across the UK, secondary schools are now completing their studies online for the final term of academic year 19/20.
Despite the current challenges we are all facing, we’re still dedicated to creating a rich programme of events. We are currently successfully delivering all lessons and Masterclasses digitally, bringing them directly to our current student’s homes and are running virtual admissions events so our new and prospective students feel connected and learn more about our colleges.
Our creative student’s community spirit remains strong, together, they have launched a number of innovative initiatives to keep the music playing, you can read about them here.
We will continue to strive to keep everyone interested in study at BIMM Institute fully informed in terms of the steps we are taking to ensure your admissions process is as smooth and efficient as possible, despite these potential disruptions to your academic study.
Existing and New Applicants
We understand it is a very difficult time for those students who have been working hard towards their GCSE, A-level and Diploma qualifications and are now unsure about how the confirmed approach to awarding grades will affect their plans for September.
BIMM has always been a creative community and, as such, we place a great deal of emphasis on the audition and interview element of your application, as your creative ability and goals are at the heart of our curriculum. Therefore, regardless of what plans the Government will announce regarding qualifications, we would like to reassure you that BIMM will primarily be focussing on your audition/interview with us when making an offer. While a level of academic achievement is required for all our degree courses, we will continue to offer places to students who we believe will get the most out of the BIMM experience.
If you have already applied to BIMM, a member of our admissions team will have been in touch with you with detailed guidance on the next steps. We also have a local Freshers Facebook Group set up for each college location which you can join at any time to connect with other applicants. These groups can be a great way to connect with your future peers and also share advice and tips for preparing to take the next step into Higher Education.
Entrance Auditions & Interviews
For our music performance courses, where an audition is required, we have established remote assessments and the online submission of auditions to make it as straightforward as possible for an applicant.
Our Admissions Team is contacting all those with upcoming bookings to provide detailed information on this arrangement as well as an update on how their application will be processed moving forward.
If you would like more information about booking a remote audition, please contact our Admissions Team via email email@example.com by phone 0844 2 646 666 or LiveChat on our website www.bimm.ac.uk.
While our buildings remain closed to visitors, our staff are all working hard behind the scenes to keep our teaching and admissions processes moving forward. Our Admissions team are open as usual and are on hand to give you all the support you need and answer any questions you might have. You can access them via email firstname.lastname@example.org by phone 0844 2 646 666 or through LiveChat on our website where you can also access up to date information on our revised admissions process and upcoming virtual open days.
While there is not currently a fixed date when we will be able to reopen, what is certain is that this situation is not permanent, and we are looking forward to welcoming our new students to BIMM in September 2020.
