Former BIMM Brighton student, Hayley Mckay is heading into 2017 with her sights set on musical success, after releasing her enchanting debut single.
‘Unspoken’ is a heartfelt song that tells the tale of two lovers embroiled in a complicated romance. The video was shot on the scenic surroundings of the Northumberland coastline, which turned out to be far colder than it looks, as Hayley explained to Elmore Magazine:
“I had so much fun making the video. I think it really captures the emotion of the song. We shot it in November and although the weather looks great (in the video) it was absolutely freezing. It took me a week to get warm again!”
The record has also captured the attention of BBC Introducing Tees, who recently named it their ‘Track of the Week’
We’re certainly expecting great things of the Hurworth-born singer-songwriter, who joined BIMM after receiving a prestigious scholarship. Following her studies in Brighton, Hayley hot-footed it to Nashville to co-write with twice Grammy-nominated songwriter, Jan Buckingham (Whitney Houston) and her time in Music City U.S.A has certainly paid off!
Her hauntingly beautiful vocals and moving lyrics are a testament to her immense talent as a musician and performer. It’s this talent that has led to a string of high-profile festival appearances and shows, including support slots with Tom Jones, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Albert Lee and Scouting for Girls. She has also shared the bill with the likes of Roxy Music’s Bryan Ferry, Jamie Cullum and Seal at the spectacular Cornbury Festival and last year was tasked with opening the Toad Hall stage in Glastonbury.
So, how long until we see Hayley Mckay playing on the Pyramid Stage?
‘Unspoken’ is out now on iTunes, Apple music and Google Play; you can watch the spectacular video in full, here.
