Lauren Hope joins Team Olly on The Voice

Student success

BIMM Manchester vocals student Lauren Hope recently stepped into the limelight during the blind audition stages of hit ITV talent show The Voice. The twenty-year-old’s vocal performance was so impressive that she was invited to join performer and judge Olly Murs’ team for the remainder of the competition.

Lauren’s alternative take of Robert Palmer’s 1985 smash hit single ‘Addicted To Love’ was enough to make Brit Award nominee and multi-platinum selling artist Olly Murs spin his chair during the final blind auditions of the competition.

The move saw him invite Blackpool native Lauren, who is currently on a gap gear from a BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Musicianship Vocals, to join his team alongside fellow BIMM student Stefan Mahendra; who also joined Murs’ team in a previous round.

We caught up with Lauren to hear about her amazing experience on the show so far.

“There are so many misconceptions around reality talent shows. However, this one in particular is like no other. Every member of staff at The Voice is rooting for you, all the producers want you to be the best you can be and grow as much as possible.

As a contestant on the last round of the blind auditions I honestly was terrified. But, when I realised Olly had turned his chair for me, I was filled with pure joy. Olly is exactly how he appears on screen with a hilarious sense of humour and a real heart of gold.”

Now she’s through this heat, the competition will soon start gaining more momentum. But for Lauren, it’s also an opportunity to start stretching her abilities further, as she explained.

“The training given at the voice UK is amazing, The vocal training is intense, but it’s also guidance in choreography, in media and in confidence! To be a part of this show is an absolute privilege and I cannot wait to see what is next.”

We couldn’t be happier for Lauren and wish her the very best of luck as he battles it out among the other hopefuls to try to get as far as possible on the show.
