Over the coming weeks will be holding these online events with Student Ambassadors from across our colleges. They’ll be on hand to answer your questions about accommodation, your new city, living on a student budget and what day to day life is really like.
Each week we’ll have new topics to discuss, and we’re always open to what you really want to know.

Building Your Digital Network
Friday 7th August, 2pm – 3pm
With the rise of social media, the music industry is at your fingertips! Learn how to build your social network, and start networking with the local music scene before you move to a new city.
The Rise of the Bedroom Gig
Friday 14th August, 2pm – 3pm
If you’re a seasoned pro, or you’ve never gone live before, our students will be sharing their own experiences of gigging from home. Our Events & Guests team will also be on hand to share tips on building an audience and how to engage with the music industry.
Musicians Guide To Keeping Safe
Friday 21st August, 2pm – 3pm
With the Music Industry starting to reopen its doors we’ll be sharing our top tips for keeping yourself safe. From socially distancing at gigs, disinfecting equipment, to mindfulness as a musician in the current circumstances.
Enrolment and Freshers
Wednesday 5th August, 4pm – 5pm
Freshers week is an essential part of the student experience and our students are here to give you some top tips on how to make the most out of a memorable two weeks. We will go through what to expect from your first few weeks, events to attend and how to get settled into your new home.
Your Student Support
Thursday 6th August, 3pm – 4pm
Our Student Services team at BIMM Institute Brighton are designed to help you with all aspects of student life both inside and outside of the classroom. The teams are here for you if you need some advice and guidance on health and well-being, housing and finance, support for your learning or just want to ask a question which you’re too afraid to ask in the classroom.
Join us to hear from students who have benefitted and been supported by our Student Services team. We will also have a rep from the team present who will provide an overview of some of the support they can give you when you join us in September!
Your Student Equipment Checklist
Thursday 20th August, 3pm – 4pm
Macbook or Windows? What mic should I get? Logic or ProTools? Your first day as a BIMM Institute Brighton student is not far away. While we are sure you have many things on your mind such as how many trips to IKEA will you need before you have enough lava lamps, you are probably starting to ask that question; what do I need for September?
We have a range of Student Ambassadors and alumni who will have some advice on what you need to feel prepared for your studies. Join us for a chat about being in the best possible shape from day 1.
Accommodation and Student Finance
Wednesday 12th August, 3pm – 4pm
Join us for an informal Q&A on student accommodation and student finance. You’ll hear from our current students who’ll share their experiences, advice and top Bristol spots to explore during your first few weeks. We’ll also go through student finance and a member of the Admissions and Finance Team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Bristol Music Scene, Careers and Industry
Thursday 27th August, 3pm – 4pm
Bristol is home to some of the most exciting music venues, studios, and creatives spaces in the country – there is so much to explore! Our students will give you the lowdown on their favourite venues where you can catch all your favourite artists and discover new ones. We will also chat about our industry and careers team and how we work with Bristol’s music scene to help you break into it.
