Aoife Ruth (BA HDip Psych MSc) is a qualified psychotherapist, researcher, violinist/violist and keys player. At BIMM, she teaches Professional Development, a course which aims to provide students with a chance to develop occupational skills as well as grow personally.
Aoife has spent years studying how psychology and music overlap and also works as a professional researcher in the area of health and disability, undertaking a range of nationwide and large-scale research projects. She is passionate about mental health and assisting people to live bigger, fuller lives. As well as working as a psychotherapist with a diverse group of clients, she specialises in working with musicians and others working in creative industries.
As a musician, Aoife has played with bands such as The Last Tycoons, The Annulments, The Chapters and Badhands to name a few, and writes string and vocal arrangements for rock, indie and folk ensembles.
She also has a keen interest in music for film and has worked on soundtracks for nature documentaries (A Wild Irish Year) as well as feature films (Never Grow Old).
