Adam Winchester

Course leader, Music Production

Adam is Music Production Course Leader at BIMM University Berlin. He holds a First Class MMus in Creative Sound and Media Technology, a BA (Hons) in Creative Music Technology, and brings nearly two decades of higher education experience since completing his PGCE in 2008.

His teaching is grounded in a holistic, coaching-informed approach, creating a safe and supportive environment where students build confidence through experimentation, critical reflection and hands-on practice.

As an artist and producer, Adam works at the intersection of bass pressure and sonic experimentation, exploring industrial textures, fractured rhythms and the physicality of the dance floor. This immersive, sculptural sound world directly informs his teaching, connecting contemporary electronic music practice with advanced sound design methodologies.

Originally known as Wedge, Adam was a formative figure in Bristol’s first wave of dubstep, championed by Rinse FM and BBC Radio 1. His later work moves into more experimental territory through projects including Dot Product (Osiris Music) and Wrecked Lightship, collaborating with artists such as Renate Knaup, KK Null and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Across his creative and academic practice, Adam is committed to supporting emerging producers to develop artistic identity, technical craft and resilience for the global music industry.
