Course Leader, MA Popular Music Practice
| Laura Lee is Course Leader for MA Popular Music Practice at BIMM University Berlin. An internationally acclaimed songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer, she is based in Berlin and brings extensive global touring and recording experience into her teaching.
Laura has toured internationally for over a decade, performing at major festivals including Rock am Ring, Hurricane, Southside and Lollapalooza, and has supported artists such as Arcade Fire and The Strokes. With her band GURR, she received significant recognition including the IMPALA Award for Best European Indie Album of the Year and the VUT Award for Best Album. In 2020, she launched her solo project Laura Lee & the Jettes, performing at SXSW (Austin), the New Colossus Festival (New York) and supporting the Beatsteaks to an audience of 17,000. Her work also spans film and theatre, including a role in the ZDF feature film Nicht Tot zu kriegen and Claudia Bauer’s production of The Master and Margarita at Schauspiel Leipzig. Laura holds an MA in Media Studies (Sound Studies) and is an active advocate for equity in music through Keychange, alongside mentoring and consultancy roles in Berlin’s music sector. |
