Ralph Netzer
MA Cinematography Discipline Leader
Ralph Netzer is an award-winning German cinematographer based in Berlin with more than three decades of experience across feature films, documentaries and television. After studying cultural anthropology, theatre, film and television studies, he began his career as a camera assistant before establishing himself as a cinematographer on international productions.
His extensive credits include acclaimed feature films such as Silent Waters, which won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival, as well as numerous productions for German television, including Tatort, Polizeiruf 110 and the Grimme Award-winning series KDD – Kriminaldauerdienst. Alongside his work in film and television, Ralph has also collaborated on documentary and contemporary art projects.
As MA Cinematography Discipline Leader at MetFilm School Berlin, Ralph teaches the craft of visual storytelling, drawing on his extensive professional experience to help students develop both the technical expertise and creative vision required for today's screen industries. He is also a member of the German Society of Cinematographers (BVK) and the German Film Academy.
