Actress Jennifer Ulrich hosts intimacy coaching session at BIMM University Berlin
This week, Berlin-born actress Jennifer Ulrich delivered an exclusive masterclass to MetFilm School students at our in-house kino in Molecule studios, focusing on the crucial role of intimacy coordination in film studios.
Throughout her career, Jennifer has performed in a variety of roles across film and TV. In 2008, she appeared in The Wave (2008), a role that brought her major recognition both in Germany and internationally. She is also best known for her leading role in We Are The Night, a 2010 vampire drama that went on to become a cult favourite inGermany.

“Women always have to negotiate on projects whether or not to be nude. Men rarely face this issue, and that is why intimacy co-ordination is so important,”
Jennifer stated at the beginning of her session.
The role of an intimacy coordinator on a film set covers many bases, including the protection of actors’ legal and physical boundaries, being the liaison between actors and directors should last-minute changes be made during filming, and providing check-ins with actors should they feel embarrassed or uncomfortable in scenes that require vulnerable elements like nudity.
In her masterclass, Jennifer discussed vital information for our emerging actors. The importance of consent, ethics, physical choreography, and the de-sexualisation of on-screen performances were among the main talking points delivered to students, who were also provided with examples of garments and prosthetics used during intimate scenes.
She also demonstrated the trust exercises she uses on film sets, which students could take away and use in their acting careers both in and outside of the classroom.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where Jennifer drew on experiences across her career to give students both practical advice, and a clear understanding of a role in filmmaking with growing importance.
