BIMM University Berlin graduate wows in The Voice of Germany 2024
Loulia Esteves, who graduated from MA Popular Music Practice in 2023, sealed her place in the semi-finals of The Voice of Germany 2024 with a stunning performance of the Édith Piaf’s classic, ‘La vie en rose’.
Loulia’s competition thus far
Loulia’s The Voice of Germany journey started with a blind audition that saw her capture the attention of all four judges with a note-perfect rendition of Lady Gaga and Tony Bennet’s song, ‘The Lady is a Tramp’.
“The first audition was incredible. I was really excited to be taking part and so grateful to have my friends (including some from BIMM!) there by my side. I don’t have my family here in Berlin, so having friends that I can introduce as my deepest connections here, meant a lot. The Voice’s vocal coach and staff are all super helpful and make the day way less overwhelming than it already is.”

French-born Loulia, who is now based in Berlin, performed in five different languages: English, German, French, Finnish and Korean, the latter drawing on her experience studying there.
Ultimately, Loulia chose to join the team of Finnish singer-songwriter Samu Haber, who rose to fame as the frontman of Sunrise Avenue.
Loulia then progressed on to the Battle round, seeing her face-off with fellow contestant Corinna Feil with a performance of Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’.
Following on from a successful team fight, where Loulia performed Édith Piaf’s classic ‘La vie en rose’, Loulia will now compete in the semi-finals of the competition.
“The whole experience has been really amazing on every level. From a music level, the level of professionalism is insane, from the house band and the crew all the way up to the coaches.
From a human perspective, it’s really incredible. Even though The Voice is a competition at the end of the day, there’s no sensation at all of competition. We all genuinely support and enjoy each other’s performances. We spend lots of time together behind the camera, so we’ve created real friendships that go beyond the show.”
On behalf of the BIMM University Berlin team, we’d love to congratulate Loulia on reaching the semi-finals and wish her the best for the next stage of the competition.
