It was a double celebration for BIMM at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival 2019. Not only did the weekend see four fantastic BIMM artists performing at our very own showcase event, but it also celebrated the official opening of our newest college within the city.

Musicians, fans and BIMM staff members were joined by a brand-new cohort of BIMM Hamburg students, who gathered at Spielbudenplatz in late September to enjoy the incredible music talents of BIMM Berlin’s EVVOL, Ed Prosek, MIN t and The Flavians – all of which include either our students, alumni or tutors.

Anna Vaverková, Songwriting graduate from BIMM Berlin and pianist/vocalist for The Flavians, spoke about the smooth running of the show:

“The atmosphere at this year’s Reeperbahn Festival was fantastic. A whole city breathing music for a couple of days is something one rarely gets to experience. I remember loving the view from the stage out over a packed venue under all those tall cool buildings up towards the sky at the Spielbudenplatz.”

She continued, “I think we’re all very thankful for the opportunity to have been able to perform at Reeperbahn Festival this year and for all the great moments we experienced and the connections we made.”

Aside from showcasing some of the best up and coming artists in the world, Reeperbahn Festival also presented a great opportunity for BIMM staff and faculty members to mingle with BIMM Hamburg’s first cohort of degree students, who recently began their studies at our newest college.

Dirk Darmstaedter, Songwriting lecturer at BIMM Hamburg was also in attendance over the weekend’s festivities and had this to say about the event.

“Reeperbahn Festival 2019 was -once again- crazy, hectic, exhausting and exciting. I had the most fun and best talks at the BIMM gathering on Spielbudenplatz, though. Meeting up with the UK and Hamburg BIMM staff plus many of our new first year students was excellent. The music and beer was good, too. I’m really excited to be part of this wild rollercoaster ride which is BIMM opening in Hamburg.”
