Producers Don’t Wear Suits

“There are many misconceptions about those working in the film business, one of these being that they’re not creative. This couldn’t be further from the truth,” explains Emma Topping, course leader of our BA (Hons) Film Business & Production degree.

“The outdated notion that film business executives or producers are just ‘suits’, disconnected from the creative process, is far removed from the reality of those actively shaping the industry in 2024. We are the architects of ideas, the catalysts for action, and the driving force behind the scenes.

“We collaborate, inspire, and, most importantly, bring stories to life – whether it’s through film, series, or other mediums. We just happen to understand how to finance, distribute and monetise content, too.”

This series aims to demystify the role of film business professionals and producers in 2024, offering insights from industry leaders immersed in the field.
