We’ve been proud residents of Hamburg’s vibrant music community since 2019.
With over 40 music companies and organisations as our neighbours, our college offers you close music industry connections right on our doorstep.
As a student here, you have the opportunity to get first-hand experience of the diversity of local, national and international music industries as part of a neighbourhood that includes Beggars Group, Nettwerk Music Group, Inferno Events, White Horse Music, Hamburg Music Business Association (IHM), Devil Duck Records and many more.

In-house production studio
BIMM Institute production studio with an acoustically designed live room gives you access to the same equipment that industry professionals use today. Built to meet the needs of the industry, our professional studio offers students professional-quality facilities. The studio features:
- 7.1 surround sound setup (Neumann KH-80) and a 2.0 stereo setup (ASAM Ausio A8X) controlled by a Drawmer Mc 7.1
- Multiple MIDI controllers such as Studiologic SL-88, Ableton Push, NI Maschine and Avid S1 DAW controller
- Selection of outboard audio gear comprising of pre-amps, compressors and channel strips by Warm Audio, Heritage Audio, Focusrite, Golden Audio, Fredenstein
- Plug-in suites from a wide range of manufacturers including Sound Toys, Fab Filter, iZotope and more
- Digital Audio Workspaces (DAWs) including Logic, AVID Protools and Ableton Live

Live rooms
- Our two live rooms are available for students to use for rehearsals and many lecturers take place in them. Equipped with a professional full backline, our liver rooms offer performance spaces comparable to those of professional venues, with custom-designed acoustic treatment and soundproofing.
- Facilities in our live rooms include a Yamaha PA and 16 channel mixer, Gretsch and Ludwig drum kits, Yahama CP88 stage pianos, a selection of amps from Vox, Fender, Marshall, Supro, Orange, Roland V-Drum electric kits.
Mac Labs
- Where some of your classes will take place, our expansive Mac Labs give you a space to study and work on your projects. Also accessible outside of teaching hours, all our workstations are equipped with Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Ableton, Adobe Suite and many more digital resources.
Storeroom
- Whatever you need for a project, our in-house equipment room is almost to provide something that suits your needs. Receive advice from our expert Facilities Team on microphones, guitars, amps, synths and interfaces and more from top brands like Rode, Fender, Dunlop, Roland and Vox.
Tutorial, teaching and lecture rooms
- Airy and light, our classrooms offer an ideal learning environment for study. Alongside your class schedule, our industry masterclasses also take place here. Classrooms are also available to students outside of teaching time for use as a quiet study space.
As a student at BIMM Institute Hamburg, you will also have access real-world industry facilities at some of Hamburg’s leading music organisations.
Jolly Jumper
- Located right in the heart of the Sternschanze, the Jolly Jumper is one of Hamburg’s most-loved music venues. Our partnership with Jolly Jumper gives performance and songwriting students access to a real-life venue for performance classes.
Chefrock Studios
- As a Music Production student, you’ll have access to a professional recording studio courtesy of our partnership with Chefrock Studios.
- Designed by Studio Magazine’s owner and editor-in-chief Fritz Fey, Chefrock Studios has an endless list of impressive features. These include the main control room – equipped with an analogue Neumann console – and a vast range of analogue outboard equipment. Chefrock also boasts a large recording room, a vocal booth and a client lounge.
