Alex Hobden
Head of School - Screen & Film
For the past 20 years, Alex has been working in creative media production and education, lecturing in Film and TV Production and Cultural Theory at Brighton and Chichester Universities. Alex has been working as a lecturer and Head of Year at the Screen and Film School in Brighton, UK for the last five years and is excited to be launching the new Screen and Film Faculty in Berlin in 2022.
Alongside this, he has also worked as a freelance filmmaker with a diverse portfolio of creative projects including music video, documentary and commercial. In 2017 Alex launched a company producing bespoke specialist microphones for Natural History filmmaking, his products have been used on the BBC’s highly acclaimed ‘Blue Planet’ series.
Alex is passionate about a holistic approach to education, creating a safe and supportive environment that allows students and staff to explore and experiment with their interests, building confidence through practice and reflection.
