Athanasios Karanikolas
Postgraduate Lecturer, Directing
Athanasios Karanikolas is a Greek filmmaker, writer and educator based in Berlin. His work spans fiction, documentary and visual media, with films including At Home, Echolot, Elli Makra – 42277 Wuppertal and Mein Erlöser. His films have been presented at international festivals including the Berlinale, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and Thessaloniki International Film Festival, receiving several awards and nominations.
Athanasios holds degrees in Photography from Parsons School of Design in New York, Video and Media Art from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, and Film and Television from the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. He has extensive experience teaching directing and camera acting, having worked with institutions including the DFFB, Ernst Busch University of the Arts and Film University Babelsberg.
At MetFilm School Berlin, Athanasios is a Postgraduate Lecturer in Directing, supporting students in developing their creative practice and preparing for professional careers in filmmaking.
