Stephanie LeBolt

Independent Freelance Lecturer

Stephanie LeBolt is a kinesthetic maker of theatre, movement, film, and immersive experiences. Her interdisciplinary projects are connected by a deep interest in people, an investigation of bodies as a site of both wonder and disgust, and a curiosity for how space and place can move us.

She was the 21-22 US Fulbright Research Scholar in Theater Directing to Germany, in collaboration with Freie Universität Berlin and arthaus.berlin embodied research centre. She holds an MFA in Directing from the Theatre School at DePaul University, a BA in Arts Administration from the University of Virginia, and is a graduate of Directors Lab North (Toronto, 2024) and Insted Israel (Tel Aviv, 2016).

Her work as a director and choreographer has been seen professionally in Boston, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Berlin, where she specializes in developing new plays and championing theatrical stories about young people and the environment. Her recent work includes the site-specific installation (ein)wanderer/(aus)wanderer (kodekü, 2023), the dance film Lady in White (TanzOrtNord, 2023, et al.), the video installation Embers (Kulturshöpfer's Green Hill Gallery, 2022), and the plays Dance Nation (DePaul University, 2021) and A Love Play (Prototypes Festival, 2020). Her upcoming project Feminine Appetite is funded by the Berlin Senat's Arbeits-und Recherchestipendium.
