ANOTHER NO.1 FOR BIMM ALUMNI GEORGE EZRA

Velvet-voiced BIMM alumni George Ezra has scored his first UK No.1 single with Shotgun, taken from his chart-topping album ‘Staying At Tamara’s’.

Speaking to Scott Mills from Radio 1’s Chart Show about being top of the single charts, George said;

“It’s so strange, and I think the reason it’s so strange is I never thought that I’d be able to do that – not because of my ability but more because I thought it was for other people –  the No 1 spot. But look at me now! Just the fact that I get up to do it day to day is enough. And then your album goes to No 1, and I might as well retire. I’m happy. Then something else comes up like this. Yeah, it’s amazing!”

The 25-year-old Hertford star also recently wowed the vast crowd at BBC Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend 2018 in Swansea, where he performed Shotgun and other big hits Cassy O’, Paradise and of course Budapest.

It was the release of Budapest in 2014, which led to George’s rise to prominence after his time at BIMM Bristol. The single went to No 1 in several countries and took him all over the world and led to 4 Brit Award nominations.

George has also been enjoying success from his podcast ‘George Ezra & Friends‘, a 45-minute show where he talks to other musicians. The series began in February with guest, Ed Sheeran and subsequent artists have included Rag n Bone Man, Jessie Ware and Sir Elton John, amongst others.

We’re all thrilled at BIMM for George to score a UK No1 with Shotgun and wish him all the best with his current UK tour, which sees him performing at Lytham and Truck Festivals this Summer.
