BIMM Berlin partner with the German Songwriting Awards
Here at BIMM Berlin, we’re delighted to announce that this year we’re officially partnering with the German Songwriting Awards.
Now in their second year, the awards are an annual star-studded song contest which allows both aspiring and established songwriters from all over the world to have their songs heard by key figures in the German music and media industries.
Songwriters can submit their songs into ten categories – Open, Singer-Songwriter, Pop, EDM/Dance, Ballad, Adult Contemporary, Music For Children, Comedy/Fun, Remix, and Lyrics Only – with many of these categories featuring song briefs for specific artists. A jury of highly successful songwriters, artists and A&R reps will judge the winners, with the chosen song in each category being professionally produced, promoted and released via Songlabel. Other prizes include a trip to Los Angeles thanks to Gewa Music and NAMM’s Ovation guitars (Singer-Songwriter category), equipment courtesy of Sennheiser (Open category) and an exclusive deal and Platinum membership worth €1,200 with Songmonk, who’ll bring your song to the right artist and company for potential use in films, TV, ads and more (Special category).
Thanks to our partnership, five very talented BIMM Berlin students have been given the opportunity to enter the competition for free. They are:
- Pink Sky by Thomas Andersen
- Creatures by Gavriela
- Infinity by Fanny Sophia
- Lauf by Daremo
- Bruises by Lexodus and Skid
Another element is the SongCon song writing camp, a three-day intensive workshop which will be held at nhow hotel. One of our lucky students Gunnar van der Stelt won a ticket to attend the event after he submitted a piece of his music.
As a way of showing his support for the awards, BIMM Berlin’s Head of Songwriting, Cian Walsh, will be delivering a workshop on his ‘Top Songwriting Tips’, so be sure to attend this if you’re thinking of entering the awards.
The awards are a great chance for BIMM Berlin Songwriters to potentially show their talents to a wide audience, and BIMM’s partnership with the event will connect students to a whole array of music industry networking opportunities. Nadja Paul of the German Songwriting Awards believes the partnership is an exciting development for the German music industry:
“We’re glad to have BIMM Berlin as a partner for the German Songwriting Awards. Like BIMM, our goal is also to promote and push careers in the music industry – so what better way to do it than to do it together! Creating an event where songwriters can work with experienced and successful artists and A&Rs is our mission. We want to provide talented musicians and songwriters with the necessary contacts needed to fulfil their dreams.”
