Graduate set to release LOVE LANGUAGE, a music short film
BIMM Berlin is celebrating another success story as a new music short film, LOVE LANGUAGE, is set for release. It was created by Berlin-based multimedia artist and BIMM Music Production graduate Zapoida Francis, in collaboration with other BIMM and MetFilm School students. The bold and intimate project explores queer love and identity through a fusion of music and visuals.
LOVE LANGUAGE is an 18-minute drama made up of five episodes. Each episode doubles as a music video for an original track, collectively forming a concept EP. The five songs are built around the classic ‘love languages’: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Acts of Service, Gifts, and Physical Touch.
The film, set in Berlin, embraces themes of romantic queer relationships, gender identity, and the social challenges that come with them – all subjects that resonate deeply with the city’s diverse communities.
“One of the most significant aims of LOVE LANGUAGE is to bring a realistic perspective on these themes, both to the eyes of those who can relate and those who cannot,” explains Zapoida.
The project began during the artist’s final year at BIMM Berlin. Originally conceived as a graduation portfolio of original music, the songs soon grew into the foundation for a film. By weaving lyrics, dialogue, and visuals together, and with the help of other students from BIMM’s community, the idea evolved into a multi-layered creative work.
Reflecting on the journey, Zapoida shared:
“Starting this project within BIMM’s framework – with the school’s guidance, the advice of my lecturers and tutors, and above all the networking opportunities it provided – was crucial in shaping the film. I connected with many talented students from BIMM, MetFilm School and other creative institutions in Berlin, who became essential collaborators. Their energy and creativity helped transform LOVE LANGUAGE from a graduation project into a fully fledged short film series.”
