Graduate Sidharth Harikumar named finalist at Student Academy Awards

BIMM Berlin is celebrating another student success story as Sidharth Harikumar, a graduate of our MA Cinematography course, has advanced to the final round of the 2025 Student Academy Awards (Student Oscars) for his short film Vasu.

After being selected from thousands of entries, Vasu now stands among the final contenders for this prestigious award. The 16-minute short drama is set in rural Kerala and follows a retired police constable haunted by a crime he carried out under orders.

Sidharth took on writing, directing, and cinematography, shooting the film in his hometown and drawing on local talent, including veteran stage actor Parameswaran Kuriyathi.

His passion for real, emotional stories perfectly reflects what we’re is all about: empowering bold, distinctive their voice. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
