Student label BUDD Records release Phoebe June single
A lot of work has gone into BUDD Records since it was launched in 2024. Students in BIMM Berlin’s Music Business Class of 2026 have been busy collaborating with artists to record, master, and release original tracks – and we’re extremely proud of everything they’ve achieved so far.
Launched as a platform to showcase the diverse musical talent within the BIMM Berlin student community, the label operates as a cooperative, with a rotating team of four students. It covers distribution, A&R, promotion, marketing, artist liaison, and product management.
So far, BUDD Records has released four singles: ‘I See It Now’ by Akari, ‘Blue Coloured Glasses’ by Nayeli, ‘Drive’ by Tiny Helles and Sander, and ‘Nothing At All’ by Hansi Goes Down.
Earlier in the year, the label received over 75 demo submissions, with the BUDD Records team narrowing the selection down to a couple of artists: Phoebe June and Dylan Parkin Levitt, with his band Horse Gone Lame. Both acts recorded their tracks with renowned German producer Moses Schneider (Tocotronic, Beatsteaks), with mastering completed by BIMM students. The resulting singles will be released this month.
The first release of the two is by Phoebe June’s single ‘Distant Memory’. The track is a soft piano ballad that reflects on the anxieties of passing time and the ache of longing for what is gone.
