BIMM Hamburg Album 2021

As part of BIMM’s opportunities for Student Enrichment, every year at BIMM Germany we invite students to record their original songs for the BIMM Album. This year we had eight artists contribute to the BIMM Berlin album, and this year, we are releasing our first ever BIMM Hamburg album.

In the Summer of 2021, BIMM Hamburg welcomed six students to Juniton Studios to record the ‘BIMM Hamburg Album 2021’.

The album is being produced by Ben Schadow, who has over 20 years of experience working with a wide range of artists as a producer, songwriter and arranger, and is co-produced, recorded and mixed by Thomas Hannes, who has worked as a freelance sound engineer in the studio for many years. Philipp Welsing, who has spent time in New York City working at Avatar Studios and has founded Original Mastering will master the album. With genres ranging from indie-pop to guitar driven rock the songs make a diverse body of work.

Track by Track

Feliks Divelli

With his strong vocals and alluring, catchy melodies Feliks Divelli makes for an acoustic night full of intimacy and emotion you won’t easily forget with vibes that remind you of Gavin James, Bon Iver or James Bay.

Being influenced by the likes of Queen and Supertramp, Rilana’s music is a tribute to Classic Rock ballads. With her distinctive clear voice, she sings about personal experiences, focusing on emotions and an uplifting spirit. She also plays the piano and the saxophone. Her stage experience ranges from a self-organised fundraising concert to a number of guest appearances, most notably with German Queen tribute band “MerQury”. In 2020, she started her vocal studies at BIMM Hamburg.

Colleen Livingstone

Colleen Livingstone can’t be put in a box with her energetic and powerful guitar-driven music drawing on influences from rock, R&B, soul and even some trap. Born in Zurich to a dramatic soprano and a barbershop quartet tenor, and raised in Germany with a US passport, she was exposed to a broad spectrum of music and live performances growing up. She is currently honing her songwriting skills at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in Hamburg, which produced alumni such as James Bay and George Ezra, and is a graduate of the prestigious Eventim Popkurs. Her first single ‘Wild’ will be released in the fall.

Sophie Sailor is a Hamburg-based singer-songwriter who combines catchy piano arrangements with self-critical lyrics.

Inspired by the likes of Nina Simone, Elton John, The Beatles as well as classical music composers she started to write her own songs at the age of eighteen. The experience of an emotionally challenging health crisis soon affirmed her in the decision to completely dedicate her life to music. Combining melancholic melodies with a fair portion of self-irony and humour, Sophie transports both the sadness and joy humans can find in music.

For the Love of Dog

The Indie-Skatepunk duo For the Love of Dog formed in June 2020, seeking to destroy all enemies of love. Between Jörn “Joeulis” Gabbe’s energetic vocals and Syd Monkey’s freaky guitars, they deliver a strangely familiar soundscape that could be described as a mix of The Strokes and early RHCP. Currently they are being backed by Jonas “Bassmonk” Grell on bass and Friedel “Fry” Viegener on drums.

Marissa is an 00’s R&B influenced artist born in Hamburg. She is inspired By artists as Ne-Yo and Rihanna. Her songs are about personal experiences, but she likes to give her audience the option of seeing their own stories in her songs.

Her emotional, warm and soft voice underlines the lyrics and melody to captivate the audience. She is also collaborating with EDM artists as “FEDR“ and is a member of the contemporary R&B girl-duo ”braetz“, which was founded with her fellow BIMM student Denise.
