Working Men’s Club

Artist

BIMM University Berlin Manchester Songwriting diploma graduate Syd Minsky-Sergeant started indie electronic band Working Men’s Club whilst studying with us.

The band released their debut single via Melodic Records in February 2019 and signed with London-based independent label Heavenly Recordings soon afterwards. This marked a significant step-up for the band, as they joined an impressive roster featuring the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Saint Etienne, Beth Orton, Doves and Temples.

The band then signed with Coda (one of Europe’s largest booking agencies), before going on to support the likes of Fat White Family, Pip Blom, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Mac DeMarco on tour, as well as appearing at The Great Escape Festival in May 2019 and racking up sold-out shows at key venues around the country.

Their popularity within the underground scene resulted in a nomination for ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ at the 2019 Q Awards.

Their 2020 self-titled album received critical acclaim with NME describing the album as ‘a world away from their early work, the group find chaos in the everyday on their superb debut.’ Their 2022 album, Fear Fear, was released to critical acclaim, with Clash Magazine giving the album 8/10 and stating: “Working Men’s Club have taken their meticulous attention to detail and vibrant eclecticism to immense heights.”
