Thomas Tichai

| Dr. Thomas Tichai is a composer, producer, sound artist, researcher, and lecturer. He works on the intersection of popular music, sound art, and new forms of artistic expression and performs on guitar, (modular) synth, and live electronics. Thomas has written, produced and/or mastered has been featured on BBC Radio 6, NPR, and German public radio, topped Canadian college radio charts, and received international media coverage. Since 2011, his genre-fluid duo Psycho & Plastic, has toured extensively across Europe and Canada, released music on Universal Music AS, 7K! and Coax Records, founded their own label GiveUsYourGOLD, and composed commissioned soundtracks. Thomas was awarded a PhD in Sonic Arts from Liverpool John Moores University for his practice research into participative composition methods. He currently collaborates with a team of scientists from PTB Braunschweig, researching the musical use of principles derived from quantum physics. |
