BIMM graduate Oscar Collis on shaping the future of music with DAACI AI
When you join BIMM University Berlin, you step into a creative community that spans nine campuses and over 8,000 students across the UK, Ireland, and Germany. It’s a place where new ideas flow, networks grow fast, and opportunities come from all directions.
One of those opportunities led BIMM Bristol graduate Oscar Collis to DAACI, a groundbreaking AI music tech company redefining how artists and composers create.
Oscar now works there as a Musicology Assistant, helping shape the next wave of AI-driven music tools.
“I’ve always been interested in how technology can open up new ways to make music,” Oscar explains. “It’s exciting to see how tools like this can help artists explore fresh ideas and sounds.”
Oscar studied Music Production at BIMM Bristol, and first came across DAACI through an opportunity shared by the university.
“In my final year, I got an email about an opportunity to work with an AI music tech company. They needed testers to try out their software,” he says. “It sounded really interesting. I’d heard a lot about music and AI and wanted to see what was going on.”
That first experience led to a full-time role. Today, Oscar’s work spans creating sounds and presets, researching genres, and analysing what gives particular styles their unique character.
DAACI’s technology is built to support composers and artists by generating original musical ideas through AI-assisted composition, with a strong emphasis on authenticity.
“We don’t use other people’s music to train our AIs. Everything is built from our own data and analysis, so the technology is genuinely creating something new rather than copying what already exists.”
For Oscar, it’s the perfect place to combine creativity with innovative tech.
“It’s great to be part of something that’s pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in music.”
