New kickstarter programme provides opportunity to record in Berlin studio
We’re thrilled to introduce the Kickstarter Programme, an exciting new initiative designed to help music students take their music to the next level. Driven by our music Creative Futures team, this project gives current students early in their careers the chance to record a fully funded professional demo at L.A. Recordings, one of our esteemed partner studios.
“In today’s music industry, having a high-quality recording is essential for musicians at the start of their career. Whether you’re submitting demos to labels or applying for festival slots, demonstrating a professional sound can make you stand out from the crowd. That’s why we started the Kickstarter Programme: to support students that are ready to take that step, giving them the opportunity for a fully-funded professional demo created in a world-class studio environment.

Recording sessions with selected students will take place on a monthly basis, ensuring regular opportunities for participants to benefit from this incredible experience.
What students will gain through the programme
The Kickstarter Programme supports emerging artists in refining their sound and creating a high-quality demo that can help them stand out in the industry. Solo artists, bands and producers alike will gain valuable professional recording experience that can propel their careers forward.
The Kickstarter Programme focuses on the recording aspect of artist development, giving students:
- A professional studio environment with top-tier equipment
- An experienced sound engineer to help shape the track
- A polished, industry-ready demo to share with labels, promoters and fans
Whether aiming to release music, pitch to labels, or strengthen their portfolio, selected students will be able to create a standout demo that represents their unique sound.
About L.A. Recordings
Founded by BIMM Music Institute alumni Liam and Anna Blomqvist, L.A. Recordings is a Berlin-based studio known for its state-of-the-art live rooms, top-tier production and mixing technology, and vast selection of instruments and outboard gear.
The studio welcomes a diverse range of artists, from independent musicians to major industry names. With its relaxed yet professional atmosphere, L.A. Recordings provides the perfect setting for artists to experiment, refine and perfect their sound.
Our students regularly have the opportunity to enjoy the space. Alongside this new Kickstarter Programme, students have also enjoyed the facilities available at L.A. Recordings during our regular Songwriting Seminars. Liam, alongside Berlin-based singer-songwriter Ryan O’Reilly, hosts these.
Who can apply?
We are passionate about supporting artists from diverse backgrounds and genres. From bands and singer-songwriters to electronic music producers and rappers, all styles and sounds are welcome.
The focus of this programme is on emerging artists at the early stages of their careers. This is part of our ongoing commitment as a university to help students develop artistically and professionally, helping them take the next step and elevate their craft.
