BIMM University Berlin partners with Universal Music Group Germany

14 July, 2025

We are thrilled to announce a brand-new partnership with Universal Music Group Germany. The collaboration will give students from our games, animation, and VFX courses the opportunity to create games for today’s most popular platforms, including Roblox and Fortnite, inspired by music and musical artists.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to respond to live briefs from UMG. Each participating student will be able to showcase their project in a growing development portfolio, highlighting collaboration with a major industry name and helping them stand out to future employers. What’s more, UMG Germany will be actively on the lookout for future collaborations with both the games and the students behind them.

Head of School, Dr Enrique Pérez had this to say about the partnership:

“Through this collaboration, our students get a ‘BIMM-tastic’ package: extraordinary and unique game development practice on globally recognised platforms, the chance to work with clients and stakeholders, and great music content. They’ll also have the unforgettable experience of seeing their creations played by others. I’m sure this will be one of the most memorable and enriching experiences of their time at BIMM.”

Through this project, students will put their classroom learning into action, developing critical skills in responding to client briefs. They will consider how to attract and motivate players, how to keep their games alive, and how to maintain ongoing functionality.

Games students at BIMM University Berlin were the first to hear the news. In a session with Vincent Hilpert, Senior Manager Digital Business at Universal Music Germany, they were introduced to how the partnership will work and evolve. Vincent said:

“We are excited to support BIMM and the next generation of game developers to explore new formats for music-themed games. The partnership highlights our efforts to educate young and creative minds about our industry, while also giving us the chance to learn more about different gaming platforms. We look forward to working closely with students over the next year to explore new ideas and help bring them to life.”

UMG industry experts will mentor students on how to integrate music effectively into gameplay, offering regular feedback to elevate their projects and help them stand out. Students will also take part in specialist workshops on designing engaging experiences for platform-specific audiences and creating custom assets.

” I’m really excited about the partnership and think it’s going to be such a great learning experience. Getting to use my skills in this way feels so unique and special.”

– Oscar Pritzkat, BA (Hons) Game Design and Development student

UMG Germany will host a series of exclusive masterclasses on bringing games to market, covering key licensing considerations around the use of music in games.

This collaboration will run each semester and is expected to grow over time, attracting new partners and expanding the already extensive opportunities available to our talented and creative students.
