We caught up with the lucky winners to find out more about their life in music – and what they’re most looking forward to at Europe’s largest music college:
Bleona Ramadani, Scholarship Winner at BIMM University Berlin Hamburg
“I’m 19 years old, born and raised here in Germany with Albanian roots and have always been a passionate soul. My desire and curiosity towards music have been increasing immensely these past few years. BIMM University Berlin is the perfect place to turn a simple idea into a bright future.
I look forward to studying at BIMM University Berlin Hamburg this upcoming semester because I will finally have the opportunity to visualise my goals realistically and meet people with the same mindset.
We are all in this together, moving forward with an irreplaceable passion and ideas to create tomorrow’s world. We shall always strive and prosper and I cannot wait to start my path with BIMM!”
Eleanor Andristplourde, Scholarship Winner at BIMM University Berlin
“My name is Eleanor Andristplourde, and I am a Dutch American, born and raised in Amsterdam. I’ve been singing since I can remember, from the back of my parents’ bikes on the way to preschool in the morning, to onstage in front of hundreds of people.
Though my life has always been full of music, as a teenager I realised that music was more than just a casual outlet. I knew I wanted to do it professionally. I started seeking out new teachers and collaborators. I took classes, joined bands, sang in choirs, wrote and produced songs, and generally surrounded myself with creative and driven people.
I plan on networking at BIMM University Berlin. I have made most of my connections through my music. When I am creating, I am being the most true to myself, and that is the best way to connect with the right people because when we recognise bits of our story in that of others, it touches us.
That spark of recognition can be the start of the best collaborations. That is how I found my current writing partner. We bounce ideas off of one another, working on our passion project: a dark folk musical. I am looking forward to many more collaborations at BIMM University Berlin.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to study Songwriting at BIMM Berlin. I can’t wait to write together with new people, bouncing ideas off of one another, and getting feedback from lecturers with so much experience. Getting this scholarship is an amazing honour. I see it as a challenge to keep working hard, because, as Tim Notke said, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
We look forward to following Eleanor and Bleona’s journeys during their first year of studies, as they develop their craft, explore their creativity and follow their passion.
