ENTREPRENEURIAL STUDENTS LAUNCH NEW MUSIC NIGHT

LIVE MUSIC

Following on from the success of their official launch, four talented students are back with another instalment of Basement Bash, a brand new series of live music nights, showcasing a host of fresh new and established talent from BIMM and beyond.

Anna Dungal, Chloe Astruc, Iva Misovic and Joel Leon, who study Music Business at BIMM Berlin, came up with the concept to provide a platform for new bands outside of a college setting. The night has so far proved a huge hit, attracting the attention of their fellow students, our tutors and music fans around the city.

Basement Bash Volumes 1 and 2 saw electrifying performances from a stellar line-up of acclaimed local rockers and new faces, including Ponte Pilas, Graves, Gunman and The Holy Ghost and up and coming BIMM band Ritzy Park.

It certainly was a night to remember with a fantastic turnout and industry tastemakers in attendance, including legendary photographer and musician Joe Dilworth [Spirtualized, Stereolab] Jeff Collier and Knox Chandler.

So, what can we expect next? The crack team behind Basement Bash are currently gearing up for the launch of their third night on April 21st, which will take on a more electronic theme with a fresh line-up of DJs, producers and groups.

Speaking about the ideation and set up of the night, Anna Jóna Dungal said: “Although we always feature BIMM bands, we also like to include at least one established Berlin group to introduce students to artists outside of school.

“We felt there were so many great opportunities for singer-songwriters to perform, but we lacked a space where fully formed bands could get together and make some noise,” she added.

“Vol. I and Vol. II have definitely been all about rock and roll, but we’re looking to further the concept with a more electronic-themed night No matter what genre, we can promise you that Basement Bash will always be loud!”

On what it’s like to work alongside her fellow BIMM students, Anna said: “It’s been an amazing opportunity. We are four students from both First and Second years and have vastly different backgrounds and contacts, which has been a great resource.

“This kind of collaboration and opportunity is exactly what being at BIMM Berlin is all about! The fact that we’re three girls and one guy also makes for a fun dynamic.”

We can’t wait and we’ll see you there!
