2019 IYMAs Bursary Recipients announced

Academic year 2019/20

Five instrumentalists were the proud recipients of a bursary from the Irish Youth Music Awards (IYMAs) last week, when they were selected as winners from a pool of first year Degree-level performance students at the BIMM Institute, Dublin.

The award, which saw each student receive a €200 voucher for the purchase of new equipment from Music Maker Dublin, was open to any first-year degree students who had also participated in the IYMAs programme between 2017 and 2019.

First year students Kellie Stapleton (Vocals), John Joseph Leamy (Bass), Matthew Kettle (Guitar), Kevin Jackson (Guitar) and PJ O’Neill (Guitar) were each awarded their bursaries last week. And as any music student or graduate will be fully aware, €200 worth of vouchers can go a long way when it comes to the purchase of new equipment. Speaking today Irish Youth Music Awards Director Barry Lennon said:

“Its brilliant that as part of the IYMAs programme we can support young people that we have worked with as they progress to third level education. It’s an honour to see these five awardees today as they begin the next stage in their musical and creative career by advancing their skill sets as they begin studying with our partners BIMM Institute Dublin.”

We wish all the other bursary winners at BIMM Dublin the very best with their studies and look forward to hearing about the fruits of their new equipment investments.
