Another Monday has rolled its way around, and to get you ready for the week ahead – we’ve got the incredible Le Boom with ‘Don’t Need It Now’ as our Track of the Week, enjoy…
What was the inspiration behind your track?
The bassline was really what started the whole track. Music first and then the lyrics. The inspiration behind the lyrics is about falling in love.
What did your songwriting process involve?
The song was written over a number of months. It began with the music and a vocal loop and from there we gigged the song for the festival season. When we decided to release it, Chris changed all the lyrics, we sampled different choruses to see which worked best and recorded new percussion parts which were then pitched up and down. Our songs never stay the same, they are constantly changing. We get bored quiet easily and love spicing things up!
What things do you do differently to other bands?
I know there is lots of incredible bands with amazing energy, but for us when we gig it becomes almost like a religious experience. The euphoria we experience off gigs is something else and we hope our crowds feel that too.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
DIY – indie – house
Have you channeled any artist in particular on this track?
Anything from DFA.
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
The push for originality is amazing for me. I feel like I have found my sound as a drummer through learning different styles in BIMM
What’s the best bit of music advice you’ve been given?
Be yourself, because you can’t be anyone else.
What’s next for you?
